IMS' has extensive experience in the field of Bridge Engineering. IMS is responsible for the annual maintenance and inspection of over 400 bridge structures.
IMS is very familiar with the current Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges adopted by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials. In an effort to sustain current knowledge of the latest design requirements and guidelines, our Bridge Design Engineers receive frequent training from various agencies including, but not limited to, the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT), Louisiana Department of Transportation (LADOT), the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the National Highway Institute (NHI), and the Office of State Aid Roads and Construction (OSARC).

Local System Bridge Replacement Program
IMS is performing engineering services to replace a number of existing sub standard bridges in Hinds County under the County's Local System Bridge Replacement program (LSBP). The majority of the bridge replacements were accomplished by constructing a new two-lane precast concrete bridge across the various creeks, roadways, etc. Under the program, the existing bridges are permanently removed.
The scope of work for the projects in LSBP included: design topographical survey; Hydrologic/Hydraulic analysis; development of final right-of -way plans' development of utilities adjustment plans; and development of construction plans and specifications. Bridge design was in accordance with the latest ASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.

Construction of a new 26.5-ft wide two-lane precast concrete bridge (100 feet long) across Mud Creek on Buck Williams Road.
Lavernet Road Bridge
Construction of a new 28-ft wide two-lane precast concrete bridge (68.98 feet long) across a tributary of Town Creek.
East Airport Road Bridge
Constructing a new 26.5-ft wide two-lane precast concrete bridge (68.98 feet long) across Bakers Creek
Rankin Street Bridge
Constucting a two-lane(.065 mile) three span structure comprised of a new concrete slab deck, built on prestressed concrete beams, with precast piles to accomodate travel across the creek.

Watkins Street Bridge Over Cypress Creek (Memphis, Tennessee)
IMS was responsible for design and preparation of construction plans, technical specifications, and providing all related design services for the replacement of a bridge located on North Watkins Street over Cypress Creek. The bridge was designed to be constructed in phases while open to traffic. All design specifications where produced in accordance to TDOT standards.
